Norm Architects x Reform

Norm Architects have collaborated with kitchen company Reform to create a kitchen in unique and bold material. norm architects, kitchens, reform

To create a timeless design there are no handles and a simple, geometric shape. The surfaces and materials have been picked for their pleasing ageing process.

Almost floating, the piece has been raised from the ground to become a piece of furniture in its own right. The secret is in using Ikea bases and adding exclusive fronts to make a statement piece on a  budget.

La Cornue release Château 150 made with a solid copper finish

La Cornue - Chateau in Copper-2

The ‘warm’ metals copper and brass are back, featuring everywhere from lighting to bathroom fittings and now in the kitchen too.

La Cornue‘s artisanal stoves are equipped and tailor-made to order. Displayed here, the Château 150 has been fashioned with a solid copper finish and polished copper trim. Together, the monumental hand-built stove and the lustrous metal create an amazingly deluxe effect.

Handmade in La Cornue‘s Paris workshops, every Château is a complete one off. The bespoke construction is a meticulous, time-honoured process using luxurious materials including brass, copper, steel, cast iron and enamel. Hobs are wholly personalised set-ups chosen from options including solid brass burners, electric, vitro-ceramic or induction hobs, simmering plates and teppanyaki. Ovens can also be gas or electric. This is true made-to-measure craftsmanship.

Bling your bathroom

Claire Cousins

Gold taps are back, whether you like it or not, and they haven’t been this popular since their heyday in the late 70’s early 80’s. Without doubt you could guarantee that for the last 30 years they were the first item ripped out of a home and would raise a few laughs along the way. So, it may surprise you to hear that there is a resurgence, but modern taps coated in gold feel new when added to a minimal interior. We love the way architect Claire Cousins mixed gold electroplated tapware with common, but creatively composed tiles in the Flinders Lane Apartment to add a little bling to the otherwise understated City pad.

vPPR will present ‘Foam Dome’ at 100% Design 2014

Architecture practice  vPPR will present ‘Foam Dome’ at 100% Design 2014, an installation for the ‘Kitchens & Bathrooms’ hub sponsored by Turkishceramics. The ‘Foam Dome’ – inspired by indulgent bubble baths and cleansing spa experiences, will be a magnificent pavilion that focuses on the theme of well-being.

The sculptural geodesic dome is constructed with lightweight white mesh from which foam, composed of soap, water and air is released, creating a frothy, interactive breathing membrane. The remarkable installation will feature specially modified Turkishceramics products, alongside piles of soft white towels and reclining chairs to underpin the indulgent spa-aesthetic.

Jessica Reynolds, Director of vPPR Architects, comments, “We’ve designed Foam Dome around the idea of cleanliness, referencing an indulgent, purifying spa experience. Its effervescent, glistening, constantly changing envelope will draw visitors to the Kitchen and Bathroom hub. We think that the characteristics of foam offer a playful and complimentary approach to the beautiful curved glazed ceramic surfaces of Turkishceramics’ innovative products.”

Celebrating its 20th edition, 100% Design – the biggest design event in the UK – will return to Earls Court London this September with another strong line-up of Kitchens and Bathrooms brands.
