The 22nd edition of 100% Design has opened with a bang and Olympia is rocking as trade professionals and press flood through the doors. Award-winning architect Asif Khan opened the show alongside Director of the Design Museum Deyan Sudjic and Show Director Will Knight, standing atop the vibrant Design Path sponsored by Hakwood.

After the press tour, we were treated to an engaging and insightful talk by Asif Khan, speaking at the Auditorium sponsored by LG Display and designed by Miska Miller Lovegrove. Khan spoke with the British Council’s Sarah Mann about some highlights from his career so far, upcoming work for the new Design Museum and his commission for the Museum for London with Stanton Williams. Collaboration was the buzz word and the interesting tensions and sometimes surprising results which come about when working in partnership with another creative individual.

The Talks with 100% Design programme continued upstairs in the Forum sponsored by RIBA Appointments, which kicked off with a talk on brand-building and is hosting talks with more of a focus on professional development.

Another feature drawing in the visitors is the new OLED Light artwork created by Ron Arad with LG Display. His brand new work, Envelopes, can be seen on their stand alongside examples of this innovative lighting possessing very unique qualities. Ron Arad is speaking tomorrow at 1:45pm in the Auditorium where you can be sure to gain a deeper insight into the creation and thought process behind this exciting new collaboration.

100% Design runs 21-24 September and there’s still time to register in advance here.

Asif Khan opens 10% Design

We are big fans of Asif Khan- we’ve had our eye on him for years but his work at the 2012 London Olympics with then partner Pernilla Ohrstedt made his name a little bit more commonplace. Now his name is associated with the Museum of London and the new Guggenheim in Helsinki…..well there’s no stopping him.

100% Workplace

With more and more people working from home as well as companies investing in their workspace to allow their workforce to enjoy coming into the offie, we take a look at some of the best workplace exhibitors at this years 100% Design.

Haworth Openest feather

We really like the Openest6 range by Studio Urquiola for Haworth. The range comprises of a curved sofa, stool and table set. All with a distinctive flowing shape and a neutral palette.

Mark product

Mark Product have always been a firm favourite of ours with their stackable, brightly coloured stools and 3 legged chairs. The wide range of standard options coupled with the company’s willingness to work on bespoke solutions has made them a popular choice amongst architects and designers.

sagal group

We are big fans of the Sagal Groups gorgeous and simple furniture range- we would have this in our house let alone our office.  The cylindrical base that has been copied across the Pod range is a particular design favourite with us and marks the range out as a one that will become iconic.

triumph

The Dove and Renown range from Triumph is simple and timeless- with an obvious Scandi influence that we really like.

steelcase

A collaboration between Coalesse and Michael Young, the LessThanFive Chair supports a variety of users while weighing less than 5 pounds, thanks to its carbon fibre design.
