CDW Presents revealed

Finally, one of the best parts of Clerkenwell Design Week (the Presents stream) has been revealed and we are extremely excited. here are some of our top picks.


This year’s show is set to present one of the festival’s highest installations: The Beacon – a 7.5m tall structure, located at the entrance to Design Fields. Inspired by the Tower of Babel, the structure will feature an internal staircase encased in a typographical design which celebrates internationalism. Visitors will be able to climb up the internal staircase to a viewing platform over-looking a cross-section where the industrial meets historical Clerkenwell.


Creative build specialists Aldworth James & Bond are working with Corian® to create ‘Order’, an installation at St John’s Gate for CDW 2017. Using the octagonal form inspired by the Cross of St John, the structure will celebrate the arch as a gateway to the design festival, and its design is firmly rooted in the rich history of Clerkenwell.


Basically a giant adults playground will land in Spa Fields for the festival. BuzziJungle introduces the design world to young Belgian talent Jonas Van Put. You can climb, lounge and meet in the elevated work-lounge space made from lacquered steel. Let’s hope the weather’s nice, eh?


Hakwood return to CDW and sponsor Double Vision, a 4 meter high structural installation of recursive patterns nestled within the historic Clerkenwell Close. Double Vision is a double panelled structure which aims to create an uplifting moment whilst walking the exhibition route. The piece celebrates pattern and form and its powers to brighten and energise.

Next generation design

The Next Generation Design Pavilion aims to inspire a younger generation to work in construction-related professions. The pavilion is a result of a series of educational workshops, bringing GCSE students together from across London. This year’s brief asked students to explore the ways in which architecture and design can encourage social interaction. The project has been generously supported by AKT II, Grimshaw, the Institution of Structural Engineers and Jewson.


For the third year running Renault are the headline sponsor for Clerkenwell Design Week and the brand will be visible all around the Clerkenwell area,  providing their ever popular Twizy shuttles. The Twizys will enable all attendees of CDW to have the opportunity to take a ride in these all electric vehicles as well as visit many areas of the show.
