Lasvit launch at M&O

LASVIT designer Petra Krausova,  launched her new piece at Maison & Objet. The dynamically-lit sculpture titled Cassia draws its inspiration both from the universe and its star-studded sky, as well as the organic shapes of flowers in a meadow, gently moving in a breeze.

The sculpture consists of a group of smaller pendants, approximately 15 cm in diameter, each made of hand-blown glass. Every individual pendant represents a flower or a star, depending upon how you observe them.

Each takes on a slightly different shape thanks to the use of optical form that allows glass to expand in its open areas. Variations are further enhanced by the monochromatic colour scheme that differs in textures from clear glass, sanded and opaque glass, to pendants with hand-painted gold segments.

Cassia excels in its flexibility for interior design. “I wanted to create concept where the client can use a single pendant or groups spanning across ceilings but also spilling onto walls with the optional wall-mounted pieces,” the young designer said, pointing out that each glass element has its own light source with a simple brushed brass socket or wall mounting.
