The mudac and the Musée de Pully have joined forces to present an exceptional exhibition devoted to wallpapers by contemporary artists and designers. Redoubling the available display wall space, these two institutions invite viewers to make highly innovative discoveries among recent creations by today’s artists and designers. An ethereal scenographic frame devoid of all furnishings or additions to the wallpapers assigns its true status and function to the medium.

Image:Coolerwalls striking murals were used to brand the DC Comics Exhibition stand within London Film and Comic Con last weekend.
Interior company, Coolerwalls, creators of highly original and iconic murals have joined forces with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) and DC Comics.
Coolerwalls have signed a licensing agreement with WBCP, on behalf of DC Comics, to launch a range of highly original murals featuring iconic DC Comics Super Hero characters. The collection features stunning imagery from a range of classic DC Comics characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. The murals are printed on high-grade commercial wallpaper that has the same effect as a canvas style skin once applied and come pre-cut in standard wallpaper widths.

Kate Simcoe, a Design Craft graduate from Oxford and Cherwell Valley College, has designed numerous different prints. Her work is essentially story telling. Kate’s project began with a collection of cigar bands that her mother had collected as a child.
Kate wanted to know all about her life at the time of collecting, events and experiences that came to mind from the time period. She wanted to design a collection of wall papers that were not reliant on fashion or trend but could still appeal to a wide audience. The collection is very vibrant, the colour palette being from a collection of my mums things. It reads like a story book, incorporating daily life, such as pets and friends to slightly darker issues such as injuries and arguments, something which Kate also tried to show through the colour scheme

The first major UK exhibition of artists’ wallpapers with work by over 30 artists including Andy Warhol, Sarah Lucas and Damien Hirst. Kitch ideas of home decoration are turned upside down as artists subvert the stereotypes of wallpaper to hit home messages about warfare, racism, cultural conflicts and gender.
