Italian designer Claudio Bellini has developed an elegant, solid wood table series for Thonet, which was introduced at the Milan furniture fair 2010.
The 1580 series is characterised by a lightweight, elegant appearance, thanks to the softly curved edges of the tabletops, which are set flush to the frame. The delicate, slightly convex legs lend these contemporary tables a unique look.

Thonet presented a new three-piece wooden table set by young French designer Marc Venot at the Milan furniture fair. The tables can be used individually or as a set. With its timeless design and clear design language, the product family 1010 a-c represents a superb interpretation of and a contemporary successor to the famous Bauhaus classic by Marcel Breuer.

Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa has created a new series of dining room products for Thonet, each element in the series being made of solid wood. The complete series was presented for the first time at the Milan furniture fair 2010. After the introduction of the 1130 dining table in 2009, the matching chairs of the 130 series are now available.

To mark the 150th birthday of the café chair ‘No 14’ (today called the 214) Thonet is announcing a photo competition. Anyone can take part: prizes include a trip to New York,a trip to Thonet’s headquarters in Frankenberg, Germany, which comprises a workshop on bentwood manufacture, and many other great prizes. In addition, the senders of the 214 best photos will have the opportunity to have their work featured in an anniversary publication.

Thonet’s rocking chair, which became famous under the name ‘Schaukel-Fauteuil No. 1, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship: the first rocking chair in the world that was manufactured from bentwood. On the occasion of their 190th anniversary, Thonet will be producing a limited run of this bentwood classic. From the autumn 2009 season onwards, a collector’s edition of 25 pieces will be available for Thonet aficionados.
