Whilst wandering the aisles at 100% Design we stumbled across an intriguing little hut; a seaside themed wendy house if you will. This playful stand at D96 showcases the talents of the team at Creative Trust, an innovative company based in Kent who provide quirky design solutions to fit any brief.

The Creative Trust team includes graphic & product designers, illustrators, movie makers, photographers and 3D model makers – all of whom are on hand to bring even the most hair-brained of ideas to life.

Their stand at this years 100% design is a cute little house made entirely of cardboard and completely illustrated by hand. The interior is jam packed with a quirky array of cardboard furniture, from cardboard frames and chairs, to a full size working cardboard piano. This enchanting little abode is an undeniably impressive achievement and certainly proves the Creative Trust’s claim; “We like to think there’s nothing we can’t produce or illustrate on.”

In recognition of this feat, the stand was awarded the coveted Blueprint prize for Best Exhibition Design at this year’s show.

This particular Vinyl Cube was created by Chairman Ting. Vinyl Cube is a simple but versatile design object that allows artists to paint and or draw on it’s smooth vinyl surface to create their own custom Vinyl Cube.

Win your own Gerald from Lazerian

Despoke friend LAZERIAN are making their Dog/Mascot Gerald work hard over the summer he’s going to be busy in the coming months! Various artists and illustrators are going to be redesigning him!! Then there will be a Gerald exhibition of all the illustrated dogs which will tour galleries and venues around the world. The illustrated Geralds will be produced in limited numbers and be available to buy from selected outlets. To celebrate the tour, Lazerian are going to be giving away a DIY Gerald every Friday until September 2010.

All you have to do is join the Lazerian facebook page and tell them which artist, illustrator or designer you would like to see customise a design on Gerald. Only suggestions added to the post on competition will be eligable for the draw, and a winner will be picked every Friday. Winners will be notified via email.

An Internet-Enabled Rescue Dog

Design students Laura Boffi, Mary Huang and Li Bian have developed a conceptual project that envisions a rescue dog with a weatherproof internet connected coat strapped to it. This dog will run around refugee camps and disaster zones, enabling survivors to send voice and video messages to their friends and family, assuring them that they are safe. The device also stores geolocation of where each message was taken and the time.

Messenger dogs are trained to sit in front of a person, which allows the accelerometer inside the recording device to trigger the interface software to start. The prototype used an IPod running Nada Mobile to simulate the device. When the dogs come back to the camp, volunteers can download the videos and make them available to people to browse for familiar faces.Via:[www.psfk.com]

Sleepypod mobile pet beds

A mobile pet bed is both a pet bed and a carrier. Sleepypod is unique to the market in that it is a pet bed consisting of ultra plush bedding surrounded by a luggage-grade ballistic nylon base that easily becomes a carrier by zipping a mesh dome around the base and attaching a shoulder strap.

In a car, Sleepypod becomes a safe car seat for a pet by securing a lap belt through a loop and a shoulder belt through the handle. A Pod for a Baby

It’s called the “Baby Cot Pod,” and it’s got handles and smoothness.
It has an organic shape. Podlike. Optional hood, two grab handles, and a retractable carry handle. On the bottom can be attached a removable perforated base, inside is a full padded lining, and all is supported by a folding plastic/wooden trestle frame.
