Rado Star Prize UK announce shortlist

Young designers from across the UK submitted a range of forward-thinking projects from the interior, industrial and technology design mediums for the inaugural edition of the Rado Star Prize UK last week. The judging was presided over by a stellar panel including industrial designer Konstantin Grcic; design journalist Corinne Julius; Vice President of Product Management at Rado Hakim El Kadiri; design journalist Katrina Burroughs and designjunction Event Director Will Sorrell.

Movisi present Grow!

With so many of us working from home and trying to make sure the house still feels like a home even when it’s full of work bits, storage and organisation is key. German design brand Movisi has launched GROW! a flexible furniture system made from 95% air, manufactured in Germany and designed in Paris by Marine Peyre. Quite the Pro-European piece. GROW! will internationally launch on the 16 May at 5pm on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo and is a system that builds up on one single element allowing users endless configurations (over 10,000) and the possibility to easily alter an interior according to changing needs.

CDW picks- Conversations

Conversations at Clerkenwell sponsored by eporta has become an important arena in which to introduce and discuss new products, raise industry issues and network with fellow A&D professionals. The talks programme will host a high-calibre of speakers exploring current industry topics. This year’s programme will take place in a specially designed pavilion at Design Fields designed in association with Bloomon. CDW Presents revealed

Finally, one of the best parts of Clerkenwell Design Week (the Presents stream) has been revealed and we are extremely excited. here are some of our top picks.

Beacon

This year’s show is set to present one of the festival’s highest installations: The Beacon – a 7.5m tall structure, located at the entrance to Design Fields. Inspired by the Tower of Babel, the structure will feature an internal staircase encased in a typographical design which celebrates internationalism. Visitors will be able to climb up the internal staircase to a viewing platform over-looking a cross-section where the industrial meets historical Clerkenwell. Continue Reading…
