No. 1 Freedom Of Creation’s Electric Tigerland Shoe campaign for Onitsuka Tiger, a marvelous application of Rapid Manufacturing for the advertising industry. This shoe was 3D Printed and customized to fit each of the Onitsuka Tiger retail locations.

No. 2 Troika Cloud @ Heathrow Airport, a five meter long digital sculpture whose surface is covered with 4638 flip-dots that can be individually addressed by a computer to animate the entire skin of the sculpture, simply amazing.

No. 3 Bug Labs, envisions a future where CE stands for Community Electronics, the term “mashups” applies equally to hardware as it does to Web services, and entrepreneurs can appeal to numerous markets by inventing “The Long Tail” of devices. In short, the future of electronics.

1 Screamadelica.
Everything about Screamadelica is class – the production (andy wetherall, the orb), the iconic cover, the songwriting, even the way the type is set on the sleeve.

It’s a dance album made by an indie band that feels like a journey with more soul than the Tamla Mowtown back catalogue.

2 Primus mountain stoves; elegantly designed, hugely practical and life
or death reliability.

3 The Oyster card wand (movement) more the spirit of it than the wand itself.(by Skeptobot)

1) Nike ID – “Excuse me! Do you have this shoe but with a white base, pink tip, yellow underlay and an orange Swoosh?” “Sorry we only have it in black”. Gone are the days of settling for off the shelf trainer colours. Its all about customisation and having a great digital platform to do it from.

2) Velcro – From surfing to space travel. Who would have thought that 68 years later George de Mestral invention would still be going strong. I just wish the United States Army would release their information on Silent Velcro! The tearing noise isn’t exactly pleasant

3) Porte Monnie wallet – I love this cleverly designed wallet. It incorporates a well engineered change pocket which in a really innovative way opens and closes with the slightest of effort.

No 1 – Valentine type writer -> I think it is a clear example of a design in which shape has its origin in functionality. By making the correct bold choices it results in a great design that is still up to date, except for the fact that it is a typewriter.

No 2 – Ferrari 365 Daytona -> this car has been designed in a week (at least that’s what they say) and it shows in a good way. The lines are simple, clear and one without any possible add-ons that extra days may produce. And I love cars.

No 3 – Eames LCW -> It may be an all time favorite of many, but it is mine too. Just like the Valentine the shape has its origin in its functionality, and like the Valentine the designer created something beautiful with the ingredients. What is best about the chair is that its shape is challenging to “like”. It is not on the safe side and I like products in which the design is clear, functional but still exciting to experience.

1 – it was between this and the New JosephJoseph adjustable rolling pin, but this has it: It’s the Muji PP Ballpoint Pen & Propelling Pencil this is quite a personal choice but I love it and it means I only need 1 pen in my handbag which clips neatly onto my moleskin!

2- Ear ring butterflies – such a tiny piece of design engineering, simple and made from one component; and no one can even see it! (image attached) .

3 – I recently saw a Thread travel kit at the KIOSK product launch at SCP (image attached) as I thought it was a great way to add aesthetics and design into a mundane product you usually ignore in hotel rooms.

Although, I’m sure I’ve forgotten of something amazing and will kick myself later!
