the benefit of design. the elderly people collecting recyclable waste are one of them.

To mark the 2010 100% Design show in London, Shapeways has teamed up with Despoke to celebrate Contemporary Design through 3D Printing.

Finalists in The 2010 Shapeways Despoke 100% Design Contest will get their design 3D printed by Shapeways and exposure on the Despoke & 100% Design London websites and the winner will receive 3D Printing coupons to the value of $100

To enter, simply upload your design to Shapeways and add the tag 100% to it. You can submit designs to the contest until Wednesday the 1st of September 12:00 CET. The finalists will be chosen by the Despoke Team and their model will 3D be printed and documented to be posted on the Despoke & 100% Design London websites.

One of the leading architects of his generation, David Adjaye has stepped out of his regular line of work to photograph and document key cities in Africa as part of an ongoing project to study new patterns of urbanism. Often regarded as a continent defined by underdevelopment, poverty, war and tourism, through this exhibition Adjaye presents Africa in a different light, examining the buildings and places which have a special resonance with his preoccupations as an architect. This detailed survey reveals a unique snapshot of urban Africa today, documenting the nature of city life in a developing continent: a unique geo-cultural survey profiling the African city in a global context.
