Lasvit and the Tour de France

Lasvit have once more created the Trophy for Tour de France Winner. The award was designed by Peter Olah, a designer from the ŠKODA AUTO team, a long-term official sponsor of the race. Winners of all four jerseys receive a trophy created from a single piece of hand-blown crystal.

Each trophy weighs nearly four kilograms and is over sixty centimeters high. The design was inspired by the crystal components of the new ŠKODA VISION E concept car, their first electric vehicle, introduced this year at the Shanghai Auto Show and both the car and the trophy feature a contemporary interpretation of one of the most popular patterns in Bohemian crystal.

All components were hand cut and extremely challenging to produce, some took as long as three weeks work by master glass-cutters. “Every year we seek to design a trophy that would be different in some way, original and unique, just as the Tour de France competition is unique,” said Peter Olah, trophy designer. “This year’s trophy for the Tour winner is a modern interpretation of a classic method of decorating Bohemian crystal,  inspired by one of the most traditional design patterns.”
