One of our most favourite things here at Despoke are shops….in museums. Opened in November 2016, Tate Edit is the new retail space in Tate Modern’s Boiler House, giving visitors the chance to browse an ever-changing selection of products, limited editions, and favourite objects chosen by Tate staff and a rolling programme of invited ‘editors’.
The first was Jasper Morrison, who also designed the shop space in collaboration with architects Herzog & de Meuron. Other hand-picked editors from a variety of artistic disciplines will be invited to reveal their personal selections over the course of the year.
The collection spans homewares, design objects, stationery, furniture and furnishings – including pieces that feature in Tate Modern’s public spaces, restaurant and members’ bar. Artworks created exclusively for Tate by a wide variety of artists including Wolfgang Tillmans, Phyllida Barlow, Hew Locke and Cornelia Parker are available to buy – many as part of the Arts Council’s interest free loan scheme, Own Art.
