RayShelfTM is a revolutionary shelving system designed by the Italian Architect Matteo Gerbi. The idea was to create a practical object for walls that works also as an art installation that could be fully customizable by the user. Simply by combining the support units and the bars, numerous arrangements can be created to suit a specific user needs. In this instance the design’s goal was to create a practical book shelf that without books an user would struggle to understand its purpose. Without books, RayShelfTM is an attractive piece of art, with books, CD, DVD or other objects is a practical bookshelf.
From The Designer
Ray ShelfTM has been designed and conceived as an art installation based on the visual representation of rays of light that are passing through a surface linking together colourful geometric forms. The choice of primary and secondary colours comes from the idea that the objects, linked together from rays of light, reflect on their surface the spectrum of the light.
