From Argentina, standing for Traditional Innovation
You probably have already seen Tytan & Calipso at London`s Supperclub: shiny happy people that stand for a sensual and innovative way of bringing light on the night.
The watertight led torches by Patricia Lascano, designed under the name of Saturn rings, are built by UV acrylic discs separated by aluminium rings that allow the light out through the thickness of the acrylic. When set in groups, they recall comforting urban skylines.

It is hard to classify Lascano´s production of the past decade, since she has gone into many different themes (from a Polo saddle to a vegetables and meat chimney grill; from blown glass to silver wear to injected seats) and materials. But, what remains the same through all her steps is an obsesive attention to details: a tech aproach with extreme craft concern. Also a contemporary vision for traditional items as asado (gaucho´s grill meat) and Polo, for which she is developing a high complexity saddle. Her production is based on existing local customs that she enrichs through innovating proposals of uses and modern technologies; with a distinctive Latin American touch.

Patricia has also produced interesting interiors and furniture sets as the ones in Trancoso, the amazing beach at northern Brazil that she adopted as second home. DJ friendly and very concerned with electronic music as the global connector, Lascano was born and raised in La Plata, Argentina´s most important University city, where she graduated as an Industrial designer in the mid 80´s.
She worked with exhibitions and was an active contributor to the Mamba Design Collection (Modern Art Museum uf Buenos Aires), curated by Ricardo Blanco. CAROLINA MUZI
