mini-houses

Mini Houses
The last few decades have seen a boom in the development of small houses in response to the reduced size of families, the density of cities, the demands of today’s citizens and the rise in price per square meter of property. These small homes present the perfect solution for busy professionals, married couples without children and adults who want to live alone or with their partner.Far from the concept of the last century, where importance and power were reflected by the size of a home, small houses (also known as mini houses) have staked their claim in current architectural development. In response to the increase in this type of small property, numerous companies and brands have created and developed products specifically for these compact spaces, marking a trend based on economy of resources and minimalist ideas

arts-and-crafts-rugs-for-craftsman-interiors

Arts and Crafts Rugs for Craftsman Interiors
Gustav Stickley designed simple, well-made household furnishings and forward-looking interiors, which he promoted through “The Craftsman” magazine. The rugs he used are arguably the most under-studied of all the decorative arts of the Arts and Crafts movement. Among the rugs discussed here are works by British Arts and Crafts luminaries William Morris and Gavin Morton, druggets imported from India, Navajo blankets and rugs and rare Crex and Abnakee examples.

new-london-style

New London Style
New London Style takes a fresh look into the private dwellings of the most exciting young creative talents in the city, from the music, fashion, design and art worlds. This new London style’ takes many forms, but above all it expresses a creative sensibility against the backdrop of the ever-changing environment of one of the world’s most exciting cities. The 28 houses in the book are loosely arranged by location, in the grooviest, on-the-edge neighbourhoods from Whitechapel to Notting Hill, Camberwell to Clerkenwell and reflect the cosmopolitan melting pot that influences the city’s design trends. Whether in a mews house, derelict pub, or even a church, this new wave of lively Londoners is injecting funkiness and bright ideas into a range of highly individualistic and inspirational interiors.

nina-campbells-decorating-notebook

Nina Campbell Decorating Notebook
Nina Campbell, pioneer of classic English comfort and style, has produced a uniquely revealing book, explaining not only her trademark touches, secret sources and techniques, but her personal inspirations and the very methods she uses in her international designs; and then, using a selection of her town and country interiors, she shows you how to use them for each individual home. In Decorating Notebook, Nina takes the home decorator through each stage, from bare walls to styling cushions. With hints and tips from her own diaries and notebooks, she describes how to think as a successful decorator does, and how to assess your own home as a designer would. The book covers all types of home, from tiny apartments in the city to cosy family houses outside town. Accompanied by specially commissioned photographs, with annotated ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots from start to finish, as well as invaluable questionnaires and checklists, learn how to decide what you want, what you need, and then, above all, indulge yourself with Nina’s innovative, yet accessible, ideas about the best schemes to suit you.
